This world is a strange place full of stranger stories. Every day you hear or read about a miracle happening in some corner of the world. While medical science has an explanation to almost everything, some mysteries remain unsolved.
One such case was of a 22-year-old student from Sweden, Sasha Eliasson. This young man was pronounced medically dead two times in a matter of a single year. But both the times, he miraculously recovered to share his near-death experience.
His first experience with death was when he met with a motorcycle accident and the second time, it was due to receiving an overdose of pain killers.
He went on to share his experience on a Reddit AMA and the conversation that followed is worthy of your five minutes.
Here’s what he had to say about death.
“FIRST “DEATH”: IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE ACCIDENT MY BODY SHUT DOWN FROM THE PAIN AND PHYSICAL DAMAGES ON MY BODY. NO PULSE, NO BREATHING AND NO CONSCIOUSNESS
SECOND “DEATH”: I WAS IN AGONIZING PAIN AFTER SURGERY SO I RECEIVED LOADS OF PAIN KILLERS. THE PAIN, COUPLED WITH AN IMMENSE AMOUNT OF PAIN KILLERS, CAUSED MY PULSE TO DROP TO AROUND 10BPM AND MY RESPIRATORY SYSTEM SHUT DOWN.”
After describing the two experiences, he went on to share some details about how he felt while he was almost dead. Eliasson said,
Death is death. Once you’re dead, that’s it. It’s over. I had no idea, like I said, it was just black emptiness. No thoughts, no consciousness, nothing.
Much like a dreamless nap, you don’t just wake up and feel like time just jumped ahead. You know that you’ve been asleep for awhile. At the same time, you can’t really remember experiencing anything at all, unless you had a dream.
So yes and no. I experienced something, and that something was nothing.
There were fellow Reddit users who shared their experiences in the comments section. There was one who said,
“If this guy saw only darkness then he was heading the wrong way. I had near death experience and I saw all white then I woke up.”
This conversation was bound to have a religious angle to it. One of the fellow readers commented,
“God didn’t let him see that after life cause God new for sure he wasn’t going to die.”
Eliasson reiterated the whole purpose of his AMA conversation and shared this interesting perspective about death.
All you have to do is accept that death is what it is, a part of life, then you will understand that it is nothing to be afraid of. The whole point of this was to try to make people understand that death is nothing to fear!
